IPL 2025: “Easy to Talk About 200+ Strike Rate” – Virat Kohli’s Brother Hits Back at Sanjay Manjrekar

Vikas kohli took a dig against Sanjay Manjrekar

Sanjay Manjrekar recently took an indirect dig at Virat Kohli regarding his strike rate in this year's tournament, comparing him to younger players who are striking at over 160+. He highlighted the performances of Priyansh Arya, who scored 69 runs off 35 balls, and Prabhsimran Singh, who made 83 runs off 49 balls, both of whom played with strike rates over 190 against KKR.

Manjrekar tweeted about how new-generation batters are outperforming their predecessors, emphasizing the importance of high strike rates in modern cricket.

Vikas Kohli's Response

In response, Vikas Kohli, Virat's brother, directly criticized Sanjay Manjrekar by comparing Manjrekar's ODI strike rate to his own. He questioned, "Easy to talk about 200+ when you have only a 65+ strike rate in the game."

Vikas shared his thoughts on threads: "Mr. Sanjay Manjrekar, Career ODI strike rate: 64.31; easy to talk about 200-plus strike rates."

This isn't the first time Manjrekar has commented on Virat Kohli's strike rates. This season, Kohli has scored 443 runs at an average of 63.29, with a strike rate over 135. His consistency has been impressive; in the last match against the Delhi Capitals, he scored the slowest fifty of the season. Virat Kohli explained his batting approach, stating that if he hadn't played defensively and stitched a partnership, it's hard to win.

Kohli emphasized,

“I focus on the total on the board, the match conditions, and the bowlers who are going to bowl. I try to ensure my singles and doubles don't stop, and then I get the odd boundary in between. The game never gets stagnant. My focus has always been on rotating the strike, with singles and doubles. People are forgetting the importance of stitching partnerships and going deep into the innings in T20 cricket."
