Mumbai Indians’ (MI) star bowler Jasprit Bumrah faced criticism following an incident during the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The episode, which occurred during Match 41, has drawn attention to Bumrah’s conduct, with some fans questioning his sportsmanship.

The incident took place in the 19th over of SRH’s innings. Bumrah, who recently returned from a three-month injury break, was bowling to Abhinav Manohar. After Manohar hit a six and a four off Bumrah in the previous overs, the pacer delivered a high full toss that struck the batter, causing visible discomfort. 

Jasprit Bumrah did not check on Manohar and instead returned to his bowling mark, prompting backlash from the netizens. Social media platforms saw an outpouring of reactions. The criticism focused on Bumrah’s perceived lack of concern, with some fans pointing out that he appeared agitated after being hit for runs.

Mumbai Indians Continue Winning Run in IPL 2025

MI secured a convincing seven-wicket victory versus SRH, chasing the target of 144 runs in 15.4 overs, thanks to Trent Boult’s four-for and Rohit Sharma’s 70 runs off 46 balls. 

This was their fourth victory on the bounce. The Hardik Pandya-led side has now moved to third position on the IPL 2025 points table, winning five of their nine matches.

Mumbai Indians will next face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 27 at the Wankhede Stadium.
