The 27 all-out by West Indies is now the second-lowest total in the history of Test cricket, surpassed only by New Zealand’s 26 against England in 1955. It broke their own previous lowest score of 47 against England at Sabina Park in 2004.

The innings lasted just 14.3 overs, making it the third-shortest completed innings in Test history. Seven of the eleven batters were dismissed for ducks, the most ever in a single Test innings. The West Indies’ top six scored only six runs combined, the lowest by any team’s top six in a Test innings.

Mitchell Starc took just 15 balls to complete a five-wicket haul, the fastest in Test history. His final figures of 6/9 are now the best by any player in their 100th Test match. He also became only the second bowler to take three wickets in the first over of a Test innings in men’s cricket after Irfan Pathan. He became the second-fastest to 400 Test wickets by number of balls bowled, reaching the mark in 19,062 deliveries.

Scott Boland added his name to the elite list of Australians with a Test hat-trick, becoming the 10th from his country to achieve the feat.

West Indies were reduced to 0/3 after the first over. This marked only sixth such instance in the history of Test cricket. Their fall to 7/5 and 11/6 also equalled the second-lowest totals at those stages in a Test innings.

Steve Smith top-scored in the match with 48, the highest individual score across both innings. It was only the 16th instance in men’s Test history where no player managed to reach a half-century.
