Jasprit Bumrah's future as of now in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is unknown with him not fully fit. The BCCI are awaiting a clear picture on his fitness as the selection committee are leaving no stone unturned to get him fit for the tournament.

Since picking up a lower back injury in the final Test against Australia, Jasprit Bumrah had had scans and was even advised bed rest. However, the Indian pacer brushed reports regarding the bedrest part of it.

The BCCI on Tuesday, came up with another update on his fitness. They have ruled him out of the ODI series against England and added Varun Chakravarthy in his place.

Interestingly, Varun picked up 14 wickets in the T20I series against England and is now primed for an ODI debut. He was named the Player Of The Series in the T20Is. Varun's resurgence as a spinner has been the talk of the town.

His control, guile and artistry as a spinner was on show in this series. He had the woor over several batters in this series including Harry Brook and Jos Buttler. Seeing his growth as a spinner in the format, Ravichandran Ashwin came up with a big remark on the Indian mystery spinner.

He Might Make It: Ravichandran Ashwin On Varun Chakravarthy Playing CT25

Ashwin has backed Varun to be named as Bumrah's replacement in India's Champions Trophy squad. Kuldeep Yadav is the only spinner in India's CT25 squad with the others being batting all-rounders.

“We are all talking about whether he should have been there (Champions Trophy squad). I am thinking there is a chance he might be there. I have a feeling he might make it. There is a chance because all teams have named only a provisional squad. So, he might get picked,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
“But, if you look at the existing squad, if a seamer goes out and Varun comes in, it will be an added spinner (five). I don’t know who they would want to drop (if they think about getting Varun in). We will wait and see,” Ashwin added.

The BCCI announced India's Champions Trophy squad last month but there can be last-minute changes to the squad. The ICC have allowed teams to make changes to the final squad till February 13 and hence it is very possible that Varun might eventually replace Bumrah in the siide as predicted by Ashwin.
