Pathum Nissanka ended unbeaten on 146 runs off 238 deliveries as Sri Lanka ended day 2 strongly on 290 runs for two wickets in the second Test against Bangladesh at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
Dinesh Chandimal also played an excellent innings as he scored 93 runs off 153 balls and added 194 runs for the second wicket. It was a very good batting display from the Lankans, who dominated day two of the second Test.
Bangladesh started the second day's play on 220 runs for the loss of eight wickets. They were wrapped up for 247 as a combined effort from the Sri Lankan bowlers did not let Bangladesh post above 250. Debutant left-arm spinner, Sonal Dinusha picked up three wickets, as did Asith Fernando, the senior pacer in the lineup. Vishwa Fernando, the left-arm pace,r picked up two wickets for 45 runs and skipper Dhananjaya de Silva picked up a wicket.

Pathum Nissanka Scores Consecutive Hundreds
Sri Lanka started strongly with their effort with the bat. Pathum Nissanka, who carried his bat through day two, first added an 88-run stand with fellow opener Lahiru Udara (40 runs off 65 balls). Once he was dismissed, Nissanka digged in deep with Chandimal as the batters tired out the Bangladesh bowlers on what was a flat batting wicket.
The two batted through the first session and into the second session as well. The duo batted through to the 77th over before Dinesh Chandimal was dismissed by all-rounder Nayeem Hasan.

Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed off just 8 runs off 31 balls. The experienced trio of Litton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan scored in their 30s but failed to kick on.

Angelo Matthews Cheers For Sri Lanka In Colombo
Meanwhile, former Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Matthews was present in Colombo to support his team after announcing his retirement from Test match cricket. Matthews announced his retirement after the first Test in Galle which ended in a draw.
