From favorites for the title once again to getting eliminated sooner than expected, both KKR and SRH have had a rough season.
KKR had a brand-new core with Ajinkya Rahane announced as their captain. He has been solid with the bat, coming in at number 3. With the openers being inconsistent throughout the season, Rahane stood tall and stabilized the top order, well complemented by Angkrish Raghuvanshi at number 4. However, the rest of the batting line-up fell apart in the majority of matches for the defending champions.
In the bowling department, Varun Chakravarthy showed early promise with some brilliant performances. But as the season progressed, his form dipped, which had a direct impact on the entire bowling unit. Chakravarthy had been their leading wicket-taker during their title-winning campaign, and with him struggling, the rest of the bowlers didn’t step up—except for Harshit Rana, who impressed in the powerplay, and Sunil Narine, who continued to deliver in the middle overs. Overall, it's been a season to forget for KKR, with only a few positives. Looking ahead, they’ll be eyeing major improvements in the mini-auction, possibly with new dynamics and a refreshed approach for the next season.
This match-up against SRH is straightforward—KKR leads the head-to-head record and had beaten Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier this season in Hyderabad, handing them a heavy 80-run defeat at the Uppal Stadium.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad—an overpowered team on paper—got exposed early this season despite starting strong with a high-scoring win against Rajasthan Royals.
