Former Indian cricketer and broadcaster Ajay Jadeja picked Ravindra Jadeja over Shubman Gill in terms of consistency in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
Shubman Gill Tops Charts
Shubman Gill, who accumulated 754 runs in 10 innings, topped the batting charts and broke a few records with his run-fests. Gill came to England with an overseas average of around 33 and made this series one to remember personally, leaving with an average of around 44. He scored 3 centuries, including a record double ton as India’s skipper a performance that earned him the India Player of the Series award.

Jadeja Stands Out for Consistency - Ajay Jadeja
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja also had a brilliant run with the bat, scoring 516 runs at an average of 86 across 10 innings. His batting came in clutch for India, with a century and 5 fifties — the most in the series. However, his bowling wasn’t quite up to his usual standards, managing just 7 wickets across the tour.
Speaking on Sony Sports, Ajay Jadeja felt Ravindra Jadeja had a greater impact than Gill:
“Is anything required to be said? The man has shown you what he can do. I think outstanding. Shubman Gill has scored 754 runs, and you are saying that he has reached close to the best. He (Ravindra Jadeja) has scored nearly 550 runs," Ajay said.

Ajay Jadeja Highlights Ravindra Jadeja’s Grit and Consistency Through the Series
Further explaining his point, Ajay highlighted Jadeja’s consistency as the reason he picked him over Shubman Gill as his favourite player of the series. He also mentioned that Jadeja’s knocks at Lord’s and Manchester were his personal favourites and praised his ability to score match after match.
“He has been more consistent than even Shubman Gill. He had four innings that didn’t end, because the batting ended from the other end. In the entire series, there were only two innings where he got out early. If we try to remember his moments, it started with Lord’s, where you couldn’t win for sure, but he and (Mohammed) Siraj fought there. A change was seen there. The fortitude started from there.. Then he kept standing in the next match and drew the match. Then he scored runs in this match (last Test) as well," he concluded.
