Pakistan will take on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday, September 17 in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 tournament. It is a must-win game for the Men in Green, as a loss against a minnow, the UAE, could spell disaster for them. However, rather than the on-field controversy, off-field drama is grabbing the spotlight, as Pakistan has blown the handshake controversy against India out of proportion.
The latest news coming from the Pakistan camp is that they cancelled their customary pre-match press conference against their do-or-die match against the UAE. If they boycott Wednesday's fixture, then they will be eliminated in the ongoing Continental Cup, as they only have two points from two games played.

A lot of drama has occurred after the Suryakumar Yadav-led India refused to shake hands with the Salman Agha-led Pakistan following their game on September 14 in Dubai. While PCB's official complaint to ICC to remove match referee Andy Pycroft was rejected, it seems Pakistan is dragging the issue far too much.
PAK vs UAE: Match Preview
Speaking about on-field, Pakistan is coming off a thumping loss against India. They were no match to a dominant-looking Surya side. On a pretty decent batting surface in Dubai, Agha & Co. just managed 127, as India bowlers led by spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel strangled Pakistani batters. With the ball in hand, Pakistani spinners could not get enough purchase. While Saim Ayub picked up three wickets, a total of 127 was never going to challenge a mighty Indian batting line-up.

Now, the Men in Green are in a spot of bother as a loss against the UAE could yet again see them falter at a group stage of the multi-team tournament. In the last two years, we have seen Pakistan falter against minnows USA and Zimbabwe and crash out in the group stage of ICC events. Pakistan would be keen to avoid another group-stage exit. However, for that to happen, they need to assert their dominance against the UAE.
