Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni will be etching his name in record books as he is set to play a landmark 400th T20 match in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday, April 25. The icing on the cake is that Dhoni will be playing this special match in front of his home fans at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The wicketkeeper batter will join the elite list of T20 stalwarts as he takes the field for his 400th T20 game. Dhoni is still by far the most successful captain in T20 cricket history, with 190 victories across 325 matches. Not only that, but the 43-year-old is also the most successful wicketkeeper in T20 cricket, with more than 310 dismissals to his name. Dhoni is also just three short of reaching 200 dismissals in IPL history.

MS Dhoni is set to become the fourth Indian player to play 400 T20 matches. Former Mumbai Indians (MI) player Keiron Pollard leads the list with 695 T20 matches to his name. The CSK skipper holds the record of playing the most games in IPL - 272 while scoring 5377 runs at an average of 38.96 and at a strike rate of 137.87.

MS Dhoni joins an elite list of Indian players to play 400 T20 games
Among the Indian players, only Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Dinesh Karthik have played more T20 games than the CSK star. Dhoni will become the fourth Indian player to play 400 T20 games. The CSK captain also holds the record of hitting the third-most sixes in IPL after Rohit Sharma and Kohli.

Speaking about CSK, they have had the worst possible start to the IPL 2025 campaign, as they have won just two games in the eight games that they have played. CSK next takes on SRH today.
