Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma shifted gears right after the first timeout, accelerating the Mumbai Indians' innings. However, Delhi Capitals spinners Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav applied the brakes with tight spells in the middle overs. Despite the slowdown, MI batters managed to score off the pacers, targeting Mustafizur Rahman and Mukesh Kumar, though the run rate remained below expectations.
Mukesh Kumar returned to bowl the 15th over and broke the crucial partnership between Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, which had kept MI from collapsing. Tilak Varma mistimed an off-cutter from Mukesh, handing a simple catch to Sameer Rizvi at long-on. At the end of 15 overs, Mumbai Indians were 114/4.

MI batters struggles to find boundaries
Hardik Pandya then joined Suryakumar Yadav at the crease as MI looked to finish strong in the final 30 balls. Kuldeep Yadav bowled the 16th over brilliantly, conceding just 4 runs and finishing with impressive figures of 1/22 from 4 overs.
With 4 overs remaining, Dushmantha Chameera was brought back into the attack. Suryakumar began the over with a boundary, but Chameera struck back by dismissing Hardik Pandya with a well-disguised leg-cutter. Pandya edged the ball to Mukesh Kumar at backward point. MI were 126/5 at the end of the 17th over.
