The Indian Premier League 2025 continues to be the largest and most significant league in the world, with a record ₹5,761 crore going towards the BCCI's FY 2023–2024 total revenue of ₹9,741.7 crore. In the meantime, non-IPL events such as the bilateral series between India's men and women brought in ₹361 crore.
BCCI’s Golden Goose IPL Drives Record Revenue
According to Rediffusion, this is the highest revenue the BCCI has ever seen. Lloyd Mathias, business strategist and independent director, said,
“BCCI discovered a golden goose in 2007 with the IPL, which is now fully integrated into the board. The tournament is the best, and media rights keep rising. IPL also provides a platform for players from the Ranji Trophy level. It will continue to grow profitably.”

Alongside the IPL and bilateral series, the BCCI is exploring ways to commercialize traditional tournaments like the Ranji and Duleep Trophies to boost non-IPL income and sustain 10–12% annual growth through sponsorships and media deals.

Sandeep Goyal, Chief of Rediffusion, added,
“BCCI has huge potential to monetize formats like the Ranji, Duleep, and CK Nayudu Trophies. The board also has nearly ₹30,000 crore in reserves, generating about ₹1,000 crore annually in interest. These revenues are sustainable and expected to grow 10–12% yearly thanks to expanding sponsorships, media rights, and matchday earnings.”
ICC Relies on BCCI; IPL and WPL Sponsor Demand Remains Strong
He also noted,
“ICC depends heavily on the BCCI for most of its funding and isn’t generating revenue as effectively as it should.”
Operation Sindoor caused a brief halt to the league this year, but Francis claims that the IPL's performance was still "hunky-dory" in spite of the disruption. He also emphasized that there is a strong demand for sponsors in other BCCI leagues, such as the WPL.

The majority of ICC's funding comes from BCCI, but BCCI isn't solely dependent on the IPL. Despite sporadic disruptions, BCCI's revenue streams are stable due to the growing popularity of leagues like the WPL and high sponsor demand. They are well-positioned for future expansion as a result.
