Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur attended the press conference on day 2 of the Manchester Test. After startng well on day 1, the visitors find themselves on the backfoot after the first two days of the Test match.
England cantered through to 225 runs for two wickets by the end of the day’s play on day 2. This was on the back of a 166-run opening stand by the England openers.
The partnership between Ben Duckett (94 runs off 100 balls)and Zak Crawley (84 runs off 113 balls) kept the Indian bowlers frustrated as they scored heavily. Courtesy of their fast start, England finished on the advantage at stumps on day 2.

Could Have Bowled Two More Overs - Shardul Thakur
The Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were largely ineffective throughout the day. They were not able to give the team the initial breakthrough that they desparately needed. Ravindra Jadeja eventually dismissed Crawley after he had put on 166 runs with Duckett.
While Shubman Gill did not use Washington Sundar at all on day 2, Shardul Thakur bowled just 5 overs after scoring 41 runs off 88 balls earlier in the day. He was asked about bowling enough overs in the day’s play.
"Giving bowling is the captain's call. Not in my hands. The captain decides when to give them," "I could have bowled two overs more today but that is the captain's call. It is difficult to find rhythm but I try and use my experience,” Shardul said in the press conference after the end of the day's play.

Pant Scored Vital Runs- Thakur
He further shared an update on Rishabh Pant’s toe injury. Pant scored 54 runs off 75 balls coming back after the fall of Thakur’s wicket. It was due to his knock that India scored over 350 in the first innings.
"I think it was always our plan (to try and bring Pant to the middle). There were quite a few efforts from the medical team. So, yes, kudos to them, They could get Rishabh back onto the field. He could bat there for a while. And whatever he did, it's of course vital runs for the team he scored” said Thakur on Pant.
