Deepti Sharma pulls out of Women's Hundred

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma has decided to pull out of the Women's Hundred 2025 competition citing reasons of workload management ahead of a new season.

Deepti played a significant part in London Spirit's title-winning season last year. She even hit the winning run in the final against the Welsh Fire women.

The Indian all-rounder who was part of the London Spirit squad last year is currently in England playing for the Indian women's team in the ongoing T20I series against England women. She has decided to withdraw from the upcoming season due to India's packed schedule leading upto the Women's ODI World Cup between September-November.

London Spirit's Statement on Deepti Sharma

Deepti will be replaced by Australia's Charli Knott in the side. The franchise has issued a statement confirming Deepti's withdrawal and hoping to re-sign her in the future.

"Deepti will always have a special place in Spirit history, having produced the team's most iconic moment when she struck the ball over long-on for six to secure our first The Hundred title last summer. She starred with bat and ball throughout the tournament, and was the highest-ranked Spirit player in the MVP standings - we hope to be able to welcome her back to Lord's in future years" the franchise said in a statement on Tuesday (July 8).

Meanwhile, Knott who has been signed as Deepti's replacement player for the Southern Brave in the Women's Hundred last year. She will become the third Australian women's cricketer to play for the London Spirit after Grace Harris and Georgia Redmayne who are already part of the side. She has previously played 59 matches for the Brisbane Heat in the WBBL.

"I can't wait to take the field with the London Spirit this year. Having experienced the excitement The Hundred has to offer during my short stint last year, I am very much looking forward to playing again this year. It will be a great opportunity to play with and against the best cricketers in the world at the Home of Cricket" Knott said after being signed up by London Spirit.

Women's Hundred To Be Played Alongside Men's Hundred

The Women's Hundred will be played from August 5-31 simultaneously with the men's competition.
