Australia will take on South Africa in the third & final ODI on Sunday, August 23. The hosts have failed to level the three-match ODI series in the second ODI, as they faced a heavy 84-run loss, and conceded the series with a game to go. They only have pride left to play in the third ODI, and will be aiming to end the series on a high. South Africa would look for a rare whitewash Down Under and continue to make progress under coach Shukri Conrad.
The visitors have performed exceptionally in the two ODIs that they comprehensively won against Australia. Lot of young players like Matthew Breetzke, Tristan Stubbs, & Muthusamy have performed well in the two ODIs, complementing the senior players like Aiden Markram, Keshav Maharaj, & Lungi Ngidi well. Conrad has given players a free hand to express themselves, and so far, it is paying rich dividends.

With a home ODI World Cup 2027 just two years away, the Proteas will be pleased with the way the squad is shaping up.
AUS vs SA: Match Preview
Australia has looked lackluster with the bat in hand. The ODI retirements of Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, & Marcus Stoinis have massively affected the balance of the side. In the two ODIs, the hosts have played in the ongoing series, only skipper Mitchell Marsh & Josh Inglis have scored fifties. Travis Head's woeful form this series has seen him not crossing 40, while Marnus Labuschagne has not scored double-digit scores.
Poor batting has let Aussies down several times, and they need senior players to step up, if they want to salvage some pride. On the other hand, South Africa would be pleased with the effort of their bowlers. Despite missing pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada, the visitors have managed to bundle the hosts for below 200 two times. Maharaj and Lungi Ngidi have led the charge by scalping five wickets in the first & second ODI, respectively. Also, Nandre Burger, Muthusamy, and Wiaan Mulder have chipped in with wickets.
